Mushroom Claims

Functional mushrooms are not yet covered by EFSA-approved health claims. However, there is a growing body of peer-reviewed scientific research exploring their potential benefits. The studies below represent some of the available evidence. We share these for transparency and educational purposes only. They do not constitute medical advice, and our products make no EFSA-regulated claims relating to mushroom ingredients.

Got Questions?

Functional mushrooms are a category of fungi studied for their potential health-supporting properties beyond basic nutrition. They contain bioactive compounds such as beta-glucans, triterpenoids, and polysaccharides. When sourced from quality fruiting bodies and properly extracted, they are generally considered safe for healthy adults. As with any supplement, we recommend consulting a healthcare professional if you have specific health conditions or are taking medication.

Yes. These four mushrooms are commonly combined and are considered safe and complementary when taken together. Each works through different mechanisms and pathways, meaning they support different aspects of health simultaneously. Alchemind's formula is specifically designed around this synergistic principle, with each mushroom included at a meaningful dose rather than a token amount.

Many brands use what is known as "label dressing" — including an ingredient at a dose so low it has no real effect, purely so it can appear on the label. Alchemind is built around clinically active dosages, meaning the amounts included in our formula are in line with the doses used in the studies cited above. We prioritise efficacy over the appearance of comprehensiveness.

No. Mushroom extracts are significantly more concentrated than whole mushrooms. The extraction process isolates and concentrates the key bioactive compounds, such as beta-glucans and triterpenoids, that are often poorly absorbed from raw or cooked mushrooms. A high-quality extract can deliver in a single capsule what would be extremely difficult to obtain through diet alone.

Some people notice effects within 1 to 3 weeks. However, functional mushrooms and adaptogens work cumulatively, meaning their effects build over time with consistent use. We recommend a minimum of 2 to 3 months to assess the full benefit. The studies cited on this page used consistent dosing periods ranging from 4 to 16 weeks.

Alchemind uses dual extraction, meaning both water extraction and ethanol extraction are applied to each mushroom. Water extraction captures water-soluble compounds such as beta-glucans and polysaccharides. Ethanol extraction captures fat-soluble compounds such as triterpenoids. Together they preserve the full spectrum of bioactive compounds. All extracts are sourced from the fruiting body, not mycelium on grain.

Current evidence supports the safety of daily use for healthy adults. Functional mushrooms have been used in traditional medicine for centuries and modern research has not identified meaningful safety concerns at the doses found in Alchemind. That said, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, immunocompromised, or taking prescription medication, we recommend consulting a healthcare provider before use.

Yes. Alchemind is safe to take alongside coffee and most common supplements. There are no known negative interactions between functional mushrooms and caffeine. In fact, many people find the combination beneficial. If you are taking other supplements or medication, check with a healthcare professional to ensure compatibility with your full routine.
